Well, all I can say is that after I started taking Deplin I also started kicking my husband because of the horrible nightmares. He keeps asking me when I'm going off that drug. The answer is - today. Not for that reason, but because I just can't afford it.

And, I'm excited to hear about Luvox CR coming out. It's one I haven't tried yet. Thanks for the info.

Doesn't seem like anyone on this board has had good luck with the "Highly Touted" Deplin.

Dan agree as mine were of dead cats all wet and being held up by the neck horrible. And things from past marriage that were not nice at all so I hope she is right about the luvox no one has mentioned it here. But she still didn't know about Deplin. I told her to google it and go the physicians info. She had heard nothing about the anemia or taking maybe B12 or that P 5 P that Ron mentioned. It's not on the website either. Think a poster named Henyro liked it. Love Phillipa

Hi Phillipa...

That's interesting, because I have been having horrible nightmares on Cymbalta. This is usually a marker of how well my depression is both doing and going to be doing. My nightmare involved airline crash's and a really vivid, odd and frightening 'theme' around prolonged dying. Not very nice. For me, the 'good' antidepressants seem to be able to squash out most of my dreaming and nightmares. I dunno..!.....?..Hope your nights get better..

Jay so for you nightmares indicate an ad won't work for you? Is that what you're saying? Thanks and love Phillipa

Oh good grief, Luvox CR. First it was dumped to generic like a hot potato most likely because of bad press because one of the Columbine assailants happened to be depressed and took Luvox (at least my theory, and perhaps low sales too), and now they want another patent.

How about novel agents ? [soapbox off] Of course, there's always the question, maybe it will help me better, but for the most part SSRI CRs haven't really done anything too much more than their original. Wellbutrin extended is one exception I would put because it does reduce seizure potential.

As for the Deplin -- there are a lot of medical foods, including one that was out there for TD (Tarvil - BCAAs, branched chain amino acids. Although you can buy BCAAs, at least at the time. I tried them just for preventative sake but they were really just placebos I think. Who knows. There are other vitamin reasons for BCAAs as well). They are little known in most practicing psychiatrists' circles maybe because they're small market but also because the evidence based psychiatry is small, the studies are rather small.

That's not to say the other kind of little heard drugs are very important -- orphan medication, a special class of medications that the FDA has fast-tracked and do carry various risks of course, for rare disorders (more than 9000 of them exist I think), such as Huntingtons and others.
