HI there,
long time listener, first time poster. On 12mg of emsam and having trouble with sleep. Dr. prescribed 6.25 ambien CR, but it doesn't get me through the morning, and i hate ambien on principal.Melatonin has worked for me in the past....is it safe to take with 12mg Emsam? I've searched online and see one positive study that discusses melatonin + deprenyl, but nothing about dosages or safety in humans.
Any suggestions?

Do you take your patch off before you go to bed? That might help your sleep.

I do not...my dr said it wouldn't make a difference, and im not sure about the 8 hours of no MAOI inhibition...seems like whatever is keeping me up is a longer-term function of the emsam and not immediate to the patch on the skin.

I take melatonin every night with 2.0 mg of Lunesta.
For me, it's the perfect combination to counteract Emsam's side effects. I've tried Rozerem and Ambien and melatonin alone. Not so successful as Lunesta and melatonin together.
By the way, today is Day 6 on Emsam for me. So far it's great. Much more energy and motivation. Not too much increased agitation either.
I am sure melatonin is safe, but for the long-term I am less certain.
I was taking 3 mg for a few months and my depression hit an all-time high (or should I say low).
One mg is just perfect for me.
