Remeron

hello, everyone! my pdoc has just added a small dose of remeron (7.5mg)to my zoloft to help me sleep. I have been taking otc anti-histamines for sleep, but since remeron has the same action plus noreprinephrine, this might be better. My only concern is the side effect of agranulocytosis. My pdoc says it is very rare and has never happened to one of his patients. Is it something I should be concerned about? thanks.

It is a rare side effect and probably has to do with extended use of much larger doses. There is always risk. Personally I think in this case it is nill. For safety, educate yourself on the symptoms to watch out for.

Thanks for your response! It seems to be mentioned a lot around here, the main problem being weight gain. I hope it will complement the zoloft, as it does a fair job of keeping me functional, but ther are some issues i hope remeron will address.

Do yourself a favor and stop worry about the rare side effects of medications. There is no substance that at least one person hasn't had an adverse event from. Focus on the good effects.
