Psychobabble - Profiles

Posted by deniseuk190466 on January 27, 2008, at 4:46:26

I was just thinking perhaps it would be a good idea if everyone could set up their own profile on psychobabble with details of what has worked and what hastn't worked in the past for them. With details of their history with mental illness etc, etc.

The reason I think it would be a good idea is that often I will see somebody raving about a medication and I'm how good it is and I'm about to rush out to get it and then I do a search on that person only to find that they often have good reactions to drugs they've tried in the past so they kind of respond well anyway.

As a pretty resistant person who hasn't had that good a response to anything anymore I tend to be more interested in the responses of those who have had the same reactions as me.

Thanks....Denise

I think it would be good if you could add a profile too, but of your current med list, so that it shows up on every post you make, maybe in small print at the bottom. Bit like a signature? This would avoid needing to keep asking what people are taking, whether they are responding well or not. And of course enable you to update it when appropriate.

And even add another list below that one of the last med trial that DIDN'T work? All in small print so it takes up little space.

I think theres alot of people who are really doing well on certain meds, but do not mention the other meds they're on unless asked.

Good point but what if none have really worked for you? Phillipa

Then I guess thats what you write down.
Maybe with the top profile a comment can be added saying a brief note (maybe scale of 1-10) of how you are responding.

Underneath that, where the previous med trial would be, you could simply add a brief note saying why it didn't work, or what was wrong with it. Example:

Current meds:
Marplan 50mg + Klonopin 3mg
"3 months. So far so good. Depression & SA much better. 8/10."

Previous trial:
Nardil 90mg + Klonopin 1.5mg + Wellbutrin 300mg
"Nardil great at first but pooped out. Various addons helped but only briefly so gave up"

Remember, this could be in small print or even hidden, allowing others to see it or keep it hidden. And it could be laid out more appropriately than my above example. Anyway, some of the posts on here are sooo long, especially if you choose to show previous post when replying, that room shouldn't be a problem really.

Might sound complicated but a Web wizard could organize it pretty easily.
