HiBeing on Trivastal, I am experiencing occasional bouts of severe anxiety, (not panic though). The bouts are so severe I do anything to arrest it. I keep few Ativan and Xanax pills with me for this. My question is: of these two benzos, which has rapid onset of action?
Sometimes I am so impatient to get a relief within minutes. Can this be achieved chewing either Ativan or Xanax pills? How fast Xanax works if I chew it?

Xanax can put under your tongue and absorb sublingually. Told to do that by a doc at one time. They now have a dissovable xanax. Phillipa

You can place both under your tongue, but Xanax works faster but doesn't last as long.

>Xanax acts faster and no memory problems like Ativan.

I have tried both, and I get a better effect from Xanax. I freak out when traveling by airplane and get an adrenaline rush that makes me dizzy while nearly passing out during take-off with extreme hyperventilation. I've found that Xanax gets me through the take-offs and landings much better than Ativan. I put 1-2 mg of it under my tongue, and can then get on the plane and within minutes I'm calm and ready for the trip. Your mileage may vary.

xanax. Ativan takes a while, but it doesnt work fast. But Ativan lasts 6 hours. Xanax can last 2-4 hours.
By the way Xanax tastes awful, i put one under my tongue, ugh. God.
Best luck to you.
Do you take both Ativan and Xanax?

I really like Xanax the best. I take it an hour before my flight and don't experience any problems. If it's a longer flight I just keep taking them every 3 to 4 hours.
