This has Got to be in my mind, right?

Posted by Dinah on December 6, 2007, at 10:50:16

I weaned off Klonopin entirely, and stayed off long enough to last out the withdrawal.

But the early morning wakings that were the reason I started taking it came back. 3 am like clockwork, at least standard time. Is that 4 am Daylight Savings? At any rate I wake up at 3 am and can rarely get back to sleep for an hour or so.

The Klonopin at 1/2 mg was enough to keep that from happening, but the sleep doctor doesn't want me taking it with my apnea. Last night I took 1/4 mg and not only did I not wake up, I slept till 10 am. This has got to be in all in my mind right? 1/4 mg Klonopin can't have any significant effect.

Now it's annoying me because I'm thinking the wakings are all in my mind too.

Dinah no klonopin is pretty strong. Funny but even with valium I wake in four hours for years and years since my first child. Would the doc let you have the short acting sonata? Phillipa

~~~ At a .25 mgs, I could not imagine a sleep doc would totally forbid you dosing with it at night IF that's what it took to keep you sleeping.
Whether it's "in your mind", functional, emotional, etc... doesn't cover the fact that's it's an "is" that's happening.
If K is a low risk versus the benefit you are receiving, I would discuss with the doc continuing on what amounts to Klonopin dust - my term for when I took .125 mgs (Gasp, why bother some would ask...) to .25 mgs of K... I did so for quite some time and it was effective at those small dosings for I was treating at the time.
I have a friend who's a polysomographer. I know she has talked of CPAP treated folks who were also RLS diagnosed and continued to use Klonopin as their RLS treatment even after the advent of the newer drugs.... just adding...
Thanks Glydin and Phillipa. I think I'll talk to him about continuing the klonopin at the smallest dose I find helpful. I think I'll give .125 mg a try.
I hate those early morning wakings.
