Wellbutrin - not doing anything?

Posted by deniseuk190466 on November 2, 2007, at 14:49:02

I don't understand, I've just starting taking Wellbutrin 150mg and I don't feel as though I am taking anything. I usually get some side affects but I'm not even getting any side affects.

I thought Wellbutrin was supposed to be stimulating?

If you've just started taking it, you probably won't feel the benefits for a couple of weeks.

As for side effects, just about the ONLY effect I've ever felt from Wellbutrin is decreased depression. That's why it's my good and trusted friend. :-)

Hence we're all different as my anxiety went sky high on wellbutrin in a week. Ended up in the hospital doc thought I was manic. Could be that it is going to work very well for you and nice to not have side effects. Phillipa

i have been on 300 mgs for about three weeks now and have not felt anything either. No stiumulation at all. In fact, I feel more tired. Isnt the stimulation supposed to take effect quickly??

Are you taking generic or brand name. There is a big difference. The brand is very stimulating and the generics are not. They still wake you up, just nothing like brand. I have a much easyer time tolerating the generics.

Yes, I like the generic a lot! I think its much better than the origional. Does not smell like rotten eggs, less dizzyness, less anxiety, more calm. I take the generic sr version from Teva, currently. Have tried anouther, which was very simmilar, dark blue color, sweet smell, and slightly smaller than brand.

Hi Racer,

What dose were you on and for how long before you noticed anything. Also did you feel anything initially when you first started taking it, like stimulation or anxiety? Because I'm not feeling a thing.

Thanks....Denise

Hi,

How long before you noticed a difference and at what dose? Did you feel anything when you first started taking it?

I ordered mine off the internet and I assume it's the original as it has Zyban on the pack (the English name) and it has glaxo smith kline on the pack. I'm guessing this wouldn't be the generic version, am I right in saying that?

I just don't understand why I'm not feeling a thing on it, I nearly alwasy experience side affects when I take a drug, it makes me feel as though it's not doing anything at all.

Thanks....Denise

I had a bad experience with Wellbutrin. After 3 weeks on I had to be hospitalized for a suicide attempt. I was suffering from moderate depression and anxiety at the time. It seemed to make these WAY worse. Don't know just my experience.

That is not the generic! Zyban is the same as brand Wellbutrin. I'm suppriesed that you have not side-effects on that, I sure did. Maybe its working for you?

I'm glad everyone is talking about Welbutrin. I've been taking Wellbutrin XL now for about 7days and I don't quite feel anything either. I'm wondering when it will take effect as well. I'm hoping this will be a good match for me especially since I had to get preauthorization from my insurance company because it's so expensive and there is no generic for the XL

It took me 2 months to work, and that was at the highest dose possible at 450 per day at about the 3 week.
Had no side effects.
It was the only depressent that helped me out of all of them.

Hi Rina,

Can you let me know if the Wellbutrin is doing anything for you yet?

So far it doesn't seem to be doing anything for me.

Thanks.....Denise
