A bi-polar spectrum, and benzo's

Posted by your#1fan on October 24, 2007, at 23:57:07

What i need, really is an very strong mood stabilizer. Lithium.

My doctor is booked booked booked, im right now just taking xanax, and i tell you at first when i had anxiety it helped, but now with manic episodes it does not help.

I like being somewhat hypomanic (let me explain why) first thing
1)Increased Mood
2)Talkative
3)Feel more emotion, and socialize with people you get enthusiasic!
4)It keeps you going i mean i could be manic.
5)I love to talk with people and be funny.

But one thing about my hypomania is that it lasts so littly short, it comes in spurts. Like for a second im up, then i feel
1)decreased overall feeling of life
2)depressed
3)feel rejected
4)I isolate myself because i cant feel any relation to people. Or mainly i just dont talk. Im in a legthargic mental state.

This is what you have it. These "auras" that i feel, i feel i have to keep feeling up, but i cant always. I hate feeling mentally lethargic. I do nothing, im apathic, im zoned, i feel nothing but a bum. Its like .......... kinda like you know how waves in water are waving i have a period of complete "flatness" like there nothing going on

here is an example:

good mood: <^^^(())))^^^>
flatness:_____________________

This is an example of how my moods are.

Lithium keeps you calm, but i dont want to be calm. Do you see because my kind of calmness is "depression"

Do you see what im saying?

please some advice please....

a fan that needs some help

Have you ever heard of the "kindleing theory"? Your cycling will get worse over time an harder to treat if you don't take action now. Many bipolars can take an AD along with their mood stablizer, esp. if you are depression dominated. You need to start out at a low dose and from there, build up to a therapeutic response. This should be at a dose to keep the cycling at bay.

Also you should aim for more sleep as your body needs rest. You can't be up all the time in mood it's normal to feel as you once put flat once in a while. Time for an e-mail too. love Phillipa

What you just described is exactly how i feel? But i never though of myself as Bi-polar, i mean, i guess i've never been diagnosed as that [i just thought somedays i'm in a better mood than other days]...but then again i've never seen a psychiatrist. Were you formally diagnosed bi-polar by a pdoc?
