Not all klonopin is created equal

Posted by 1lablvr on October 7, 2007, at 11:41:44

Among other meds, I am taking klonopin. My p doc increased the dosage from 5 mg throughout the day, to 5.5 mg. I switched out 4 of the .5 mmg for 1 of the 2mg. I am not getting much relief from anxiety symptoms. Usually when I go up by .5 mg, I notice a huge difference for 6 months.

Anybody else had this experience?

Thanks,
lablvr

What other meds are you taking as that is a hefty dose. Phillipa

I started taking klonopin 11 years ago. I am also taking 190mg.Pamelor (which has stopped working), 25mg tenormin, 12.5 mg Lamictal every other day, carafate. I've tried almost every AD , but have serious side effects to most. The ssri's give me the worst anxiety in the world. My psch doc wanted me to try geodon, but now is not a good time, so I begged her to let me increase. We have discussed how this is just a bandaid.
I suffer from crippling GAD, and depression. I can't even do volunteer work.

Now I understand as the same for me but I can tolerate low dose luvox. Supposed to try lyrica . I know it's for peripheral neuropathy but it off label seems to work for anxiety and at high doses depression or so I've been told. Phillipa

Well, when I was taking .5 I always could tell, but when my doctor wrote out a prescription for 1 mg pills (to break in half) I swore I was taking a sugar pill. I never did figure that one out.

After talking to my Pysch Doc, she said to try taking 6 .5mgs. WOW, what a difference. Of course this morning my brain was like a marshmallow. Every body is different. Mine reacts to the most subtle changes.

So you slept and weren't anxious today that is wonderful. Phillipa

You're so sweet to follow up. I did sleep, and anxiety was less. Now I have bought myself 6 months to find something else to help with anxiety, as I develop a tolerance in that amount of time. I'll always be on klonopin, but neither doctor or myself want to keep increasing. Also, need to get off the 12.5 Lamicatal.

Thanks,

Lablvr
