So am I feeling the placebo effect or is it workin

Posted by Happyflower 1 :-) on September 12, 2007, at 16:52:37

I was taking lowest dose of Sarafem (prozac) for my PMS, every 2 weeks before my period.

Well now I am taking prozac everyday, same dose, as before. I am almost over the 3rd week, could it be working already? I do feel better. or is it that I want to feel better? any clues?

If you're identifying feeling better and not identifying feeling bad, I'd venture to say it is probably working HF. A friend of mined has found it to be successful for her for many years.

ps: I had PMS or rather PMDD. My gyn prescribed Prozac and Oil of Evening Primrose, quite a few years ago, though.

Probably do feel better as it has such a long life. Isn't it five weeks before an Mao can be started. So now it's constant. Phillipa

Yep. All I know is it keeps your body functioning despite this 'stress' 'full' time of the month. I'd think of myself as the tin man, all stiff and anxious and even somewhat paranoid, and it was my oil can.

Sorry ... alternative language & knowledge isn't well-educated.

A so unfair thing = PMDD. No one would believe me for the longest time. Hope your sig-other will be understanding and acknowledge its existence.

The D for dysphoria didn't come out until after I had a TAH-BSO (everything removed), but now my gyn says he wishes he'd left one ovary.

Patches or injections worked best for me when a med is/was available in this form. Even now I have estrogen patches which I seem to go through very quickly and he called in some progesterone/testosterone cream for memory and hair loss but the progesterone made me sleepy.

There are so many options out there now that weren't then.

Get a good doc and a good book.

bestwishes, 5f

No. Wondered why you mentioned it.

> So after 3 weeks it is in me full time, that is good.>

Yes, it's an SSRI and it's probaby at its peak.

>Will I even feel better in another week?>

You may. That would be good huh?

>I just dont' know much about prozac.>

I don't recall much either, just that I was on 20mg for more than a couple years and did fine.

Maybe change the name of your post and someone new to it as well, will join the thread.

have a nice evening, 5f

I amn on Prozac for OCD and when I first started taking it (about 6 years ago) I felt it starting to work in a bout a week. I wasn't sure either if it was just ebcause I WANTED it to work so badly.
