Posted by Jeroen on August 25, 2007, at 3:47:05

i am suffering from a lamictal induced psychosis
i think that's my diagnosis

i already had this disease, was stable before taking it... i am going to the hospital this monday

can you please tell me what med i should be on for the lamictal induced psychosis?

i tryed Abilify wich gave me some relief after 2 weeks but side effects are not tolerable..

should i take Zyprexa ? or another anti psychotic
like Solian or clozapine or seroquel

the only thing that made me better once was seroquel, but side effects are intolerable at the beginning, zyprexa just knocks me out and doesnt agitate me at the start, just keeping me calm wich is good

what should i take for this condition so i can ask my doctor

please help me before monday

Jeroen good luck think you doc should be the one to advise on a med as he knows you better and will be the one treating you. Will you have access to a computer and come home weekends as before? Again good luck to you. Phillipa

I believe seroquel is generally well tolerated. I have hated most psych drugs but I use it to sleep when nothing else will 'put me down'. It can be a lifesaver in those situations, and the side effects were not as bad as many other psych meds I've tried.

i'm thinking of clozapine with seroxat

i'm thinking of clozapine with seroxat

clozapine for my treatment resistant psychosis
seroxat for depression ...

need something, i'm scared of seroquel because it makes you really suspicous and agitated in the beginning of treatment but after 2 weeks it might be lifesaver yes

I am so sorry for you too. Good luck. My daughter was on lamictal as a child and I took her off of it because she became quite the zombie. She was 10. She recovered though and is doing fine now at 19 and has gone to college. There is hope I think. I am think of you. RK

Clozapine + Paxil sounds like a really good combination. You might want to start on a lower dose of paxil, ie 10mg. Even 10mg can be very helpful, it might avoid some of the side effects.

If you think paxil worked better for you than luvox, you might want to try it again.

Link I know my pdoc did gloss over it still need benzos though as the pdoc then put me on 25mg of lopressor for three weeks prior to the start. Couldn't take inderal contraindicated with autoimmune diseases. Was sick and out of it even on l0mg of it for about three months I figure that is when I quit taking notes. But I still had beer nightly pdoc said it was fine and the xanax was only .5 but now I wonder if the beer negated the effects of the paxil. But couldn't have as I had to bite off small pieces of paxil to keep brain zaps away.(that was going off it after two year) So based on that I don't feel alchohol negates an ad unless you get drunk nor did the ad get rid of anxiety. Doctor wouldn't let me go higher on the paxil said no it would be too much for me. My sister got to 4omg still drank beer and took xanax. So that's the story. Phillipa ps think maybe I'll try l0mg again thanks for reminding me

can you already tolerate clozapine?

i can barely tolerate risperidone, which i am on now. thinking of asking to switch to invega, if its in canada (maybe not,) in case that may remove some side effects (but maybe likely not, i don't think much is known?) but i even worry APs are really not at all the drugs for me. even for my doctor's theory, i wonder amisulpride would be more suited and worth asking our government's processes to try.

relevant to the topic tho, i have wondered recently, for clear psychosis and for psychosis prophylaxis, if amisulpride would allow a lower clozapine dosage in people, and have a better balanace of activity (hopefully cutting side effects, and actually having functionning management of negative or negative-like symptoms.)

i almost wonder if clozapine goes too high in dose, just to have its D2 try to catch up with its D4 affinity. i wonder if the D4 benefits of the drug are already had at lower dosages, and if something more totally D2 selective can be added (like amisulpride) instead of upping the clozapine, to pinpoint the need of more there (at D2), and not add more of the infamous side effects clozapine is known for.

that's why i wonder what clozapine+amisulpride may be as useful for AP activity, if we knew the right dosages, or mayve if it might be easy to dose the two in combination properly. i think it's even already been mentionned somewhere that amisulpride may function as an antidote to clozapine salivation issues.

anyway, hope everything works out.
