Any1 w/ anxiety/depression and chronic pain?

Posted by Fivefires on July 18, 2007, at 11:24:42

Oh where oh where do I post this?

Almost posted on substance abuse, but I'm not abusing, not yet anyway.

As of late, will admit felt a need for an increase in my dosage of oxycodone; been on this dose three years.

I'm looking for an answer to a question.

What is the medication given to a person who is to undergo a 'narcotic vacation'?

Googled and got some garbage, so maybe wrong search words.

Any ideas or input appreciated.

tks, 5f

Buprenorphine?

Perhaps a TCA for anxiety, depression and pain.

If your dose of oxycodone is minimal it may be possible.

The best thing with narcotic vacations is to have an escape route in case it proves unworkable.

I never found any substitute worthy of the name. Lowering the dose was always best for me.

Hi guys. Got a bad sick to stomach feeling after errands in dreadly hot weather and just came around from collapsing on my bed.

Buprenorphrine? Not sure, possible; will google. Kept thinking it was something that sounded similar to Klonopin, but no, it's not Klonopin. Is there Clonodine? I dunno.

Still stomachachey ... sorry.

Hate to go request records. Could call and see how much, if anything, it would cost, to p/u.

I cannot 'just lower a dosage'. Besides becoming extremely ill with no one here w/ me, it's very dangerous to do this. It can be done properly. I think 'undergoing a vacation', and then started at a lower dosage, is a possibility though.

There exists a 'vacation from a narcotic protocol' out there for the specific reason of not increasing a person's dosage. You then restart @ your same dosage, and get relief enough to eliminate the feeling of a need for more.

I did try this on my own once and was alone and nearly passed out before I could dial 911. Even after taken to the ER, some medical personnel don't 'get' this issue. But, in the detox unit I was in, it was all good, constant monitoring, labs, yes some group talks re: addiction, but for the most part, no disrespect. Whatever was in this patch were the tools to prevent DTs, etc.

I suppose restarting @ a lower dosage after the prior is something I could keep in mind.

They have a group of pdocs that use bupe here and the detox unit is a hospital setting for addicts. I can google it. Love Phillipa

Tks 4 always being here to lend a hand Phillipa, but I can google it.

I'll check out buprenorphrine and then use some diff' search words and figure it out some other time. Today I feel too depressed.

I was just going to do one small thing this day. I was going to watch my 1y/o gdaughter for 4hrs, but, sure enough, got ill.

Have had a lot of stomach problems since first prescribed a pain med (It was Darvocet then.) years ago.

I wish I'd divorced him the first time he laid an angry hand on me!

And I wish I'd never listened to my sister's instructions to 'do nothing'!(?)

Too many years have passed to even file a civil claim against him.

People takes these matters into their own hands. But, what a stretch from disdain to actually taking a life. My mind couldn't/can't even get close to there, thank God for me, and for him unfortunately.

What is the word written across my forehead again? I'm too tired to go look in the mirror.
