Zoloft-- how long?

Posted by spriggy on July 14, 2007, at 17:38:35

Hey guys,

I'm going on 3 weeks of Zoloft (50 mg's) for depression/anxiety.

Does anyone know how long it takes to really work and build up?

I suppose I'm not AS depressed as I was, but for the most part, I don't feel much difference.

I'm wondering if I should ask my dr. to up my dosage or if it just takes more time?

Thanks!

Spriggy hi at least 4-8 weeks I'd think. Is the pregnancy going okay? Love Phillipa ps is the doc planning on upping the dose?

Hi I have been on zoloft for a little over 9 weeks and have been doing better, it took about 5 weeks to start to feel a little better but to reach the best I can be i'm still inproving. MY P-Doc told me it can take up to 3 months on the meds. So like I said i'm still improving each week.

I've used Zoloft on and off for the last twelve years. When I first started it (after failing to respond to seemingly hundreds of other meds), it took six months at 200 mgs for any break-through. Because I personally do respond so well to Zoloft, I can use very low dosages to get me through rough patches. (Yes, I have the side effects but they're mild at such low doses).

Zoloft has been the best ssri for me ever, as in side effect profile. I'm on 50mg and it started working for me quite quickly, after 2 weeks. Now I just have the vague apathy which I get from all ssri's and it is really annoying. It's been 4 weeks for me now but at least it has shut my head up for the time being.
