Anyone experimented with taurine + NRI such as strattera, reboxetine or a TCA?

Ive used taurine with a lot of things, from sedatives to stimulants.

The profile of how it stablizes nerve activity, protects aganist NMDA receptors and so had me in high hopes.

I got one of the best brands which is country life,GMP stamp on their products.

Taurine is eh,nothing to write home about. Its said to help increase gaba and work as a mood stablizer and possably anti depressant,BUT more professional abstracts found in like google scholar or other places usualy correspond taurine to bile action,as well as heart benifits.

The best i found it to do was possably aid a benzo in working a little better. However i have seen people write that its helped them in dose ranges of 1500 mg 2 times a day.

Taurine for mood is usualy found in my view on sites that like sell it or have something to do in that manner.I have yet to find many professional documents recomending taurine for any mood disorders.

Too bad your not here,i have a whole bottle id gladly give ya!

Is that a safe dosage? I take 500-1000 mg/dy. I only stick with it because I thought it did have a calming effect when I first began it. It could have been coincidental or placebo. Or maybe it actually worked and I developed a tolerance.

I don't think it's doing much now but if there's no harm in upping the dosage I may give it a shot.

Thanks...Peace...Saturn.

I'm not sure what NRI stands for, but I am curious about Taurine. I did buy a bottle & I have taken it a couple of times, but I've heard good & bad. Can you enlighten me?
-thx!

I think he is reffering to a snri, but i can answer for him exactly.

If he is then just some standard more stimulating anti depressants, hence nora-reuptake inhibitor.

As for taurine,it has many many jobs, but the ones we here would look at most likly are the fact it is a amino acid that DOES CROSS into the brain,it has a nerve stablizing effect,so its somewhat of a natural mood stablizer, and since it helps nerves from over firing and nerve cell death its considered NUEROPROTECTIVE.

Also it indirectly helps increase gaba as whole.Kinda like a natural lamictal kinda.

Some people find it helpful for anxiety, mood, ocd, etc,

Me,unfortunatly most over the counter stuff i find best at maybe adding to a drug.Alone natural remiedies usualy do nothing but make me worse.

Just remember it is natural, but still crosses the brain, and for some it can either make you more depressed,or angry,or stuck on stupid.

When supplementing aminos your no longer using it natural,so its recomended most amino treatments are cycled, unless you have a KNOWN deficiency you are tested on at a docs.

Yes, I was refering to a norepinephrine reuptake inhibitor (selective) such as reboxetine, straterra, or desipramine etc.

Some people call them SNRI's (selective norepinephrine reuptake inhibitors), but I don't use this because SNRI's is also used for serotonin/norepinephrine reuptake inhibitor (ie effexor is classified as an SNRI)

So, I just say NRI

I think youre pretty unique in how meds and remedies affect you,all i can recomend from a personal point of having done the whole strictly natural for a year is i always found country life to be the best brand at whatever it was i was using. They are a class act.
