Thinking of starting Wellbutrin - should I take SR

Posted by tendency on June 27, 2007, at 14:57:13

Thinking of doing a trial run of brand name wellbutrin but wonder what is a reasonable starting dose and if I should use the SR version or not. Thanks!

Phillipa -
Do you have nothing better to do than offer your value-less opinions on threads like mine?
Did I ask 'please provide me with your opinions on the efficacy of Wellbutrin'? No.
Did I ask 'what have your experiences been on Wellbutrin'? No.
Why do you offer negative, useless comments like yours? "Unfortunately it didn't work for me.." To which I reply: SO? What's your point? Do you want people to feel sorry for you? Are you bored? Do you need attention such as you're now getting from me?

As my mom used to say (God, now I'm quoting her) "if you don't have anything constructive to say, then don't say anything at all".

Please don't post anything that could lead others to feel accused or put down.

If you or others have questions about this or about posting policies in general, or are interested in alternative ways of expressing yourself, please see the FAQ: http://www.dr-bob.org/babble/faq.html#civil

Follow-ups regarding these issues should be directed to Admin and should of course be civil. Dr. Bob has oversight over deputy decisions, and he may choose a different action.

Respectfully,

Wow i posted a lot here today,i know some people will i know will bother me on that lol as i contradict myself.

That said, personaly my view is if you havent tried it yet to use the standerd version so you get full potency, youll have all the time in the world to switch to a sustained release form, but ive never found a SR version ever to be more effective than the drug, only more convienant.

As far as it works,id say if youre a non responder to ssris you MIGHT have a better shot as its usualy the case with maois as well as other classed meds.

Good luck and good night folks.

A typical starting dose is 150 and I did use the SR (slow release) type of wellbutrin. In combination with Celexa and Adderall it worked well, I want to try adding it again to Nardil(as another poster is doing) but if 150 doesn't work going to 300 would be the next step. I regret in the past not increasing the dose to 300, rather only upping the Celexa dose alone, an increase to 300 may have been the ticket.

Can't win I took wellbutrin and had a bad reaction to it so I was on the drug and all drugs effect everyone differently. Sorry I didn't give you the answer whatever you were looking for but I took the med and ended up in the hospital as it made me manic. Not all need stimulating meds and wellbutrin is stimulating. So what's the problem as I have experience with the med at l50mg. Love Phillipa
