Straight from the mouth of my Pdoc...
If you develop postural hypotension (meaning you get dizzy when standing/walking and feel like you might faint) from an MAOI, be sure to stick with it, because this is almost a guaranteed sign that the drug WILL eventually work for you.

This may sound stupid but why? Would this mean that all meds that give side effects to you in the beginning will eventually work? Love Phillipa

I've just increased my Parnate from 10 mg to 20 and had some wobbly legs and dizziness after standing yesterday..I was on it before and stopped as I literally would have to go down on my hands and knees as I felt I was going to pass out..
Do you know if there is anything (other than trying to stand up more slowly) that can help with this..I'm very happy so far with the results at even a small dose..I still feel some depression but I'm much calmer and the compulsive worrying is much better also..still the occasional spell where I feel weepy, but that's short-lived..
Here's hoping it will continue to get better!

TBH, I'm not sure why that's the case. He explained it to me, but he has this bad habit of being overly complex at times.
And, unfortunately, that's not the case with all drugs and all side-effects, just this very specific situation.

I had the dizziness and lightheadedness for about 3 weeks on Nardil but it all went away. It was so bad I started taking salt pills because I thought my blood pressure was dropping. It did pass though, so hopefully it will for you too.
Hang in there.brooke

I was getting hypotension so much that I stopped taking my blood pressure pills. I take two types. When I checked with the Dr the BP was in the high range of normal. Good news
