Does anyone find low doses more helpful?

Posted by chiron on June 24, 2007, at 11:16:38

Because it seems that I often get worse as I increase my dosage, my dr is suggesting I try staying at low doses (1/2 of lowest available):
12.5 mg Lamictal
10 mg Celexa
1/2 .0.25 mg Synthroid

and then a regular 2mg Xanax XR

I have been on this combo for 4 weeks and started to feel an improvement until extreme PMS?, I know the Xanax helps, but I'm not sure if or what else. I am a mystery to my dr. because he has never seen someone react so paradoxically to so many medications. So maybe I'm too med sensitive to go up. ECT is what really helps, but my new anxiety has made me too nervous for it.

I do have some cycling, even within a day, so I'm tempted to up the Lamictal. But this is my 3rd Lamictal trial and it seems like before it made me more agitated (and increased acne). But maybe going up more slowly would be better?

Thoughts? Experiences? Thanks.

Yes, I found lower doses more helpful than higher doses. I was on celexa 10mg for about 2 years with sucess.

It's always a success to find your level
of comfort. But all drugs are not the same
regarding their therapeutic level. And
some have noxious side effects at the
therapeutic level and are completely rather
than discretely inefficient below that.
