So if you get side effects in the beginning of raising or starting a new ad does this mean it will work? Love Phillipa

It means that the AD is having some biochemical effect that you are resposive to. It is often a positive indicator that the AD may work. I've found that if I don't have any side effects when starting a new med, I don't get any AD effect. Makes you wonder about studies done against placebos. No side effects, therefore you are probably getting the placebo.

I'm not sure, but I got minimal side effects from Effexor and a major improvement at the same time. Maybe my case isn't common, though. I don't know much about antidepressants.

If an AD works and you get few side effects run out and buy all the lottery tickets you can! You are luckier than most :)
