Hi,
I have a couple of questions about Emsam. I just started it a week ago. I haven't felt any positive effects. I am taking 6mg. How long does it take to kick in? I read that is doesn't really have an antidepressant effect at 6mg and starts to work at 9mg. Is this true?
I stopped taking Provigil when I started Emsam bc my doctor said it may not mix well. Is that true? Can I take it or is it dangerous? I heard there could be a lot of problems mixing MAOI’s with other drugs.

I know a poster who is doing very well on EMSAM and providgil. Some work at 6mg some have to go higher. Give it some time . Love Phllipa

Jeff I am Emsman week 11. I felt more energy almost the same day I took it, which not really good for my anxiety. I had something kick in around week 7, and am waiting to see the full effect (it has a rep for being stronger than the SSRIs but weakner than Nardil and Parnate).
If you go up from 6, you will have the food restrictions even though they never did tests to determine whether or not there were really food restrictions and 9 and 12.

6, no food restrictions
ive read on here a lot of ppl taking provigil with emsam, do a google at the bottom of dr. bob

I had to stop Provigil with Emsam due to lightheadedness and hypotension. It did not do anything for increasing focus or concentration which I was hoping for.
The two can be given together since Provigil is not a stimulant, so the combination is not contraindicated.

I like the combination of Emsam and provigil. Esp. because I dont' sleep well with Emsam, the provigil gives me a lot of energy during the day.
However, it is also possible to take other stimulants with Emsam, despite the statements to the contrary on the information sheets from the company. It depends a lot on individual response, but it's not totally contraindicated.
