I just read the recent thread from 3/7/07 regarding Remeron, so I don't want to ask everyone who responded there to repeat their posts. I have read them...thanks.

Org 50081 in phase III... 'improved remeron'?

Does anyone know anymore about this medication? According to neurotransmitter.net it's a NaSSA (noradrenergic/specific serotonergic antidepressant).

I guess it's to be marketed for insomnia and hot flashes.

Also, does anyone know how long it typically takes for a med to go from phase III to pharmacy shelves if approved?

Thanks...Peace...Saturn.

I like Remeron

I have to admit its hard to take the side effects to begin with, you'll probaby feel very sleepy and sedated to begin with!

Start with 7.5mg & work up slowly

I'm really hoping that Org 50081 makes it to the Market place-I don't dare to hope much though :(

There was a lot of anticipation about Agomelatine
Thanks to some Idiots in the EU it was never Approved

Just started low dose for GAD? » saturn

I kind of have a love/hate relationship with remeron. Actually, last night I went back to it out of desparation and can't belive how well I am doing today. I started at 3.75 and don't see me going up as in the past 7.5 really helped but made me feel kind of down. That could have been undiagnosed allergies at the time though.

I had akathisia due to ssri's and seroquel and after stopping seroquel last night after 4 tortuours days and starting remeron that internal hell feeling is almost gone. Remeron has been show to stop akathisia at 15 mg. But is has shown to cause it at 30 too. Go figure.

That being said I hope the sedation wears off.

I am using remeron for GAD/sleep issues. I also have some OCD "Pure O" and it has helped in the past. However at higher doses (15mg) I had a lot of daydreaming issues. Kind of strange. I think it is the sedation aspect.

Good luck

johnnyj

Do the sleepiness, sedation and uncontrolled eating wear off after a while? I had a trial with remeron but discontinued after 2 weeks because I was a zombie- sleep, sleep, eat, sleep, eat... sleep some more, eat some more, daydream on the couch. It just wasn't sustainable. But now I'm wondering whether I gave up too soon, if it's possible those side effects would have worn off after a while. Ines

For me, the tiredness never went away, so I must take it at night and get a good 8 hrs of sleep (preferably 8 1/2 or 9) to be fresh in the morning.

The urge to eat all the time did, slowly, subside. I still get munchies but they are under better control. For me, I discovered that on Remeron, it is better to just cut out most white flour and sugar altogether than try to eat those things in moderation. I eat whole grains and try to eat fruit as a snack instead, otherwise it's a slippery slope to major munchies.

With a half life of 40-60h(?) Remeron is just too long acting for insomnia, without sedation for half the following day.

Otherwise I'd consider it.
The deepening of sleep was the best bit.
