Attention NARDIL users!!!! Quick questions

Posted by UgottaHaveHope on February 22, 2007, at 18:59:11

I am currently taking 6mg of Emsam, 3mg of Klonopin and 150 of Seroquel for primarily generalized anxiety, and then depression.

1. Does anyone on here take Nardil for generalized anxiety? Or do you take it for other reasons, and noticed it helped you anxiety?

2. What are your most common side effects? Do you ever get your liver tested?

3. How long did it take for you to feel an effect from Nardil?

I take it for atypical depression. However, I noticed that I felt more confident not long after I started taking it. This led me to realize I had anxiety under the depression. Nardil's still helping with that, though I don't have the highly confident feeling I had at the onset. It's more less anxious versus highly confident.

My doc tests my liver functions once a year. I've had no changes.
Side effects:
-swelling in ankles at doses over 60 mg, which is worsened when I have to take NSAIDS for whatever reason.
-Myoclonic jerks with sleep onset. This happens more with dose reductions versus increases.
-Urinary retention at doses over 60 mg.
-Weight gain. This has stabilized, finally! I think the Provigil has helped a great deal with that, though I also take 600 mcg chromium picolinate.
-Hyperreflexia, which provides minutes of entertainment and an occasional need to apologize for accidentally kicking someone in the knee if I've set files or something down in my lap and they are sitting too close.
-a mild, occasional stagger when I first started taking it and first increased doses. I would find myself taking a sort of back-step to keep my balance, sort of like a drunken walk, though I didn't feel off balance or dizzy. Odd, but it went away in about a week or so.
-inorgasmia which went away after about 4 months.
-excessive sweating, worse obviously in the summer months
-At 75 mg I had akathisia and severe insomnia. I couldn't tolerate this dose, and these symptoms went away as soon as I lowered the dose.

Holy crap that's a lot! Still, it's the only AD that's ever actually worked for me, and it's still worth it to me.

I had an initial effect almost immediately. It didn't go as far as euphoria, but it definitely felt good, especially compared to feeling depressed. This waned after a couple of weeks, then as I titrated up to 60 mg, I'd say a good solid response kicked in about six or so weeks after the beginning. I didn't take anything else with it back then, but since then I've augmented with Lamictal, Provigil, and Lithium along with Ambien for life=long insomnia.

Hope this helps.
