Strattera newbie

Posted by kevinj909 on January 31, 2007, at 15:23:41

Hey all,

I just started taking Strattera 25mg a day and am on day 2. So far so good. I feel a little happier and head a little clearer. Is there anything I should be aware of in the long run? Has everyone had pretty good experiences? Should I avoid drinking beer or anything?

thanks in advance for your comments

-Kevin

Hi welcome to babble. Hopefully some experienced takers of straterra will answer your questions. I don't take the med. Glad you're having luck. Love Phillipa

Well, Kevin, I'm glad you feel happier and that your head is "clear". When I was given Strattera, I was inpatient at the time mind you, it clouded my judgment completely..I could not think clearly. I believe that it was a combination of the Strattera, Depakote and Risperdal...I was not familiar with any of these drugs when I was prescribed them. When I went off the Strattera, the fog began to lift..I then discontinued Risperdal, and I was back to my somewhat-normal self. My feeling is that it was simply a bad cocktail..if I hadn't been on the Risperdal I would have been more inclined to wait for the side-effects of the Strattera to subside. Which they almost always do..so hang in there, Kevin. You got nothing to worry about. Personally, my feeling is that a beer or two couldn't hurt. Strattera is not a depressant and won't enhance the effects of the small amounts of alcohol in the beer, though I'm not a doctor mind you.

Hi Kevin, glad you're here :-)

Here's a link to a thread about Strattera from earlier this month:

http://www.dr-bob.org/babble/20070119/msgs/725065.html

I linked to my own post so you can read about my positive experience, but you might want to read through the whole thread.

There are a few others here, too, which you could could probably find by using the Search box at the bottom of the screen.

This is the end of the thread.
