That would be me. I've been on many AD's and tried other mood stabilizers. This works wonders for me.Polarbear

I am on 150 mg Lamictal and 250mg Effexor. I have (supposedly) add , a little bipolar and depression. I was on adderal but that stuff made me crazy! I had to take klonipon and xanax just to come off of it at night. Adderal is easily abused. My old doc had me on 300mg effexor , 2mg xanax, .5 mg klonopin and 60mg adderall. Needless to say his med. license was recently revoked in my state. Any ways i am having success seems like I need to maybe up my dose of something. I get really tired in the afternoon and grumpy.pearlcat

I tried the stimulant route too and it just exacerbated my moods. I have a "soft" Bipolar II and is depression dominated and with seasonal variations. Had a hypomanic episode in the spring one year and my motor was in high gear. Did some stupid things. I landscaped my yard (big) in one day and bought expensive shrubs and floweres. The energy was just pouring out of me and I was on a mission. Other than that there are times when I have alot of energy and get many things done with less sleep. This only lasts a few days. I take klonopin prn to keep these episodes at bay. However, since I have been on Lamictal these episodes are few and far. I like to talk alot on the phone when I get like this too, my "Chatty Cathy" moods. I enjoy getting outside in the winter since I get "light hunger". I have 3 dogs and walk in the woods with them just about everyday. When the weather is bad and I'm more fatiged I use a bluelight therapy for my SAD.Polarbear

To be very honest, including the effexor in my lamictal is how my doctor was able to diagnose me with bipolar. I was almost totally manic.
