Moody!Lunesta withdrawal or Trazodone side effect?

Posted by DKScully on January 23, 2007, at 9:11:16

So, as some of you may have read, I stopped Lunesta just over a week ago and started Trazodone (50 mg). I'd been on 3 mg of Lunesta for almost two years and basically just stopped it cold turkey. I had some trouble sleeping for the first few nights, but now that has improved. However, I'm just feeling... moody. I cry or get irritated at the littlest things. I'm being treated for anxiety (I take Lexapro and Lorazepam as needed) but this is more volatile than I usually am. Anyway, do you think it's the Lunesta withdrawal (I know some people say there ARE no withdrawal symptoms, while other disagree) or has anyone had this as a side effect for Trazodone? Hope to hear from some of you soon!

Lunesta has withdrawal effects? I just started it two weeks ago with valium oh great. Did you have any side effects on the 3mg? As I can't wakeup in the am and feel more depressed even given up 5mg of valium. Thanks Phillipa

Nah, no side effects with the Lunesta at all, really. I really liked it, it just stopped working for me after a couple of years.

As for the withdrawal, yeah, Lunesta claims to be "non-addictive" and all that, but I've read about withdrawal problems. I'm just wondering if anyone here experienced that, or experienced moodiness from Trazodone.... Just trying to narrow down where the problem is. I really hope it's not the Trazodone, because I like how it's working for sleep!

Anyone? Has Trazodone made any of you feel "moody"?

Lunesta made me moody--when I was taking it, not when I stopped, though.

Could it be the Lorazepam? I'm told that 'emotional lability' is a well-known occasional side-effect of benzodiazepines (probably something similar to Lunesta).

Yeah, I just don't know. It could be PMS-related, I'm not sure, so when I went to my psychiatrist, he said to give it another month. It also might be SAD, since I suffer from that to some extent and winter seems to finally be here, ugh.

It does help me sleep and it's hard to find something that does that successfully, it seems!
