Lamictal causing anxiety?

Posted by Reggie BoStar on January 25, 2007, at 23:09:38

Hi Everyone,
I'm at the 50mg dose in a larger starter kit for Lamictal (took me two weeks to get there).

I noticed some anxiety at 25mg, but not too bad.

Within days of being on 50mg, I started climbing the walls. This is getting pretty bad. I also take Buspar, which isn't helping the jags at all.

Anyone else have this experience with Lamictal? I took it at one time in the distant past but can't remember if it affected me this way.

There have been so many meds, I'm forgetting what did what to me.

Thanks for your time,
Reggie BoStar

No anxiety at 50mg but excess salivation made me quit the med. Afterwards I noticed I had been getting angry on lamictal. Love Phillipa

Lamictal gave me pretty serious nervousness at just 25mg. I couldn't hang in there. Bailed out within a week.

Hi Phillipa,
Good to hear from you again.

I can certainly identify with the anger. I've been really short-tempered along with the jitters. I burned a lot of bridges on the EONS boards.

My mouth is actually dry these days, but up here in NH we're in one of those very dry deep-freezes where the humidity hovers around 10%. Plus I take so much other crap that warns about "dry mouth" that I may not notice salivation when it happens.

I am really moody though, on the angry side.

Keep posting,
Reggie BoStar

Hi blueberry1,

Yeah, I'm thinking that even if I make it through the 50mg schedule, I might have to bail at 100mg. That won't happen for another week and a half.

In between now and then (next week) I get all my wisdom teeth out. I have a feeling that the Lamictal is going to be a non-issue for a while.

Just a thought to consider. One person at remedyfind discovered that 6mg was the perfect dose and works great. Another person 25mg. I realize the standard accepted approach is to increase it to 100mg or more. That's kind of like saying one shoe size fits everybody.

Hi Phillipa,

My sister lives in Ellington, don't know which county. She's actually a snowbird - summer in Ellington, winter in Port Charlotte FL.

I lived and worked in Danbury for a year in 1984. I hated it down there. Crowded, expensive, mondo traffic jams (and nasty drivers) on I-84, which some brilliant highway engineers thought was just the place to narrow it to two lanes. As soon as my first year was up and I was no longer liable for my relocation expenses, I got out.

I could have used Buspar back then!

The anxiety seems to be subsiding a bit since I stopped the testosterone supplements. Maybe that stuff was the cause of it, as well as the short temper and moodiness.

Puberty was more disturbing in other ways, but it's just as well I bailed before anything like that could get started up again. At my age (56) and with all the crap that's wrong with me, a second puberty would mean a horrible death.

It's too bad those horomones have to be such a double-edged sword.

My wisdom teeth come out in two days. I'm sure I'll have more to say after that. Look for "Darvocet" and "Super Advil" postings.

With a lisp!!!
