Hello everyone,
I've been battling depression/anxiety for over 3 years. Right now I'm on Lexapro and take Ativan prn for anxiety.
My doctor now wants me to take Neurontin for anxiety. Has anyone had any experience taking Neurontin? Did it help? What side effects did you experience?I'm so frustrated that I can't get my anxiety under control. It is now starting to effect my job...I'm at the end of my rope, I feel so pathetic...

it might help. It didn't help me, but some people like it, and if you keep taking the ativan the neurontin might boost the ativan. There's also Lyric, which I think is chemically similar to Neurontin, but newer and more potent..Lyrica is approved for some forms of anxiety in the European Union.

Neurontin does help me with anxiety. it made a huge difference when i was having an esp bad time recently.

Thank you all so much for your replies!!!
Phillipa, I've never tried trileptal...I'll look it up. I take 0.5mg to 1.0mg, 2 to 3 times a day.
The problem is my job....The ativan makes me so tired. I get major anxiety at work (I'm a nurse).
I feel like I'm at the end of my rope and I'm going to lose everything because of my depression and anxiety...

> Hugs, DreamGirlAsk your Doc about Lyrica, it is basically a new more powerful neurontin. Low dose Lyrica can be very effective for some anxiety problems. Best wishes.

Neurontin was a nightmare for me
made me nutso
also kind of kidnapped me -- made me think something was wrong with me rather than with the meds
