Start Nardil while coming off klonopin?

Posted by becksA on December 23, 2006, at 16:28:07

I want to eventually come off of Klonopin. That shouldn't take too long, although the rebound anxiety is severe. I've always been able to come off any drug very very easily, even the ones known to be the most difficult to get off of. Question is I really want to try Nardil....

1. Can I start it while I'm still tapering the klonopin?

2. How soon should I start to feel something from the Nardil?

Thanks

(Apparently Weight/Height is an issue on that? IF it matter for your answers, I'm about 6'6" 200lbs.)

Hi,
There is no problem taking clonazepam with Nardil. I've been doing it for years. If it was me I would give the Nardil four to six weeks to kick in (after reaching the effective dose for you) before I started cutting back on the clonazepam. Everyone is different, but the rule of thumb for Nardil effective dose is 1mg per kilogram of body weight, or 90mg for your 200 lbs. I like to make one med change at a time so I have some handle on what is helping and what is causing side effects. For some people, when Nardil first kicks in, it is like a wonder drug. I was that way. Nothing else worked, it took weeks to happen, but when it kicked in: all things became clear again. For social anxiety, the combination of clonazepam and Nardil, is the gold standard (IMHO).
Good Luck,
Jedi

It used to be easy for me back in those old days... but not anymore. Maybe the age (-:

Why not?

You will have side effects immediately. What I can say from personal experience that it will never let you off with side effects...

As for the effect - 4-6 weeks, sometimes earlier. It did nothing to me, but that's the way it usually does.
