Mega doses of Manerix

Posted by Maxime on December 15, 2006, at 17:31:53

If the Nardil doesn't help me I am going to take 900 mg of Manerix. That's the plan we came up today at my appointment.

I've been on Manerix before and it didn't help. Maybe bombarding my body with it will help?

dont know if this will help or not but for my anxiety disorder i tried every single benzo to very high levels, and finally we found something that helped - 14mg of klonopin per day. my pdoc says in his 25 years of practicing he has never given any patient even close to that, but because of my past medical history that's just how i react to certain drugs. He also made it aware to me that it is taken in even higher doses for other medical reasons.

Conversely, amphetamine drugs for my ADD I am hypersensitive to and take a dosage good enough for a toddler. So every drug has a different effect on every individual. As long as it's safe, go for it. That's what we did with the Klonopin, not expecting anything, but voila. It worked.

Hope this meant something for ya.

Um, Manerix is an anti-depressant and I don't suffer from anxiety.

Epileptic take up to 12 -16 mg of Klonopin a day (just as an aside).

I've read somewhere else (wish I had the link) that one reason so many people fail on Manerix is low dosage. I guess b/c there's MAO inhibition involved, docs were conservative? I dont know. Anyway, the article I read mentioned doses of 900, 1200mgs/day as being sometimes effective in people who were still not responding, so maybe this is a situation where ramping up the dosage will ultimately prove helpful.

So..hopefully this will help :-)

I hope so. :) I am still going to give Nardil a chance to work. I am increasing it to 45 mg and then to 60 mg of the next few weeks.

When I was on Parnate, I was taking 120 mg at one point. Then it stopped working. And now I can't tolerate 10 mg without a headache at the back of head and very low blood pressure (why would it be low if I have the headache) and my pulse is 110. I don't understand why body doesn't accept Parnate anymore. ???

I wanted to go higher with Manerix when I was on it years ago. I think I got to 900mg and that was the max my GP was willing to prescribe. They refused to let me go higher because they'd seen adverse reactions like hallucinations and other psychotics symptoms appear in people being treated with doses above 900mg.

Well, if that's the route I go, I will let you know. Everyone reacts differently to meds ... hopefully no hallucinations. :)

Some people find moclobemide agitating, and it seems not to be recommended for recovering alcoholics.
I took half a tablet a day and thought it was strong enough that way. So it might not be exactly weak.
Perhaps I am sensitive to NE?
It made it easier to put my thoughts into words.

Hi Declan,

Think I hear you saying it is NE activating? That would be great as I just got mine, and am always looking for an NE boost...

Do you remember half a tablet of what strength? That you were taking...?

Thanks,

Suzie

Hi Suzie
That was half a 150mg tablet a day, though one day I took 150mg. Apart from being a little agitating for me it felt nice and clean, and I could imagine taking a low dose forever, maybe slowly building up. I just meant to suggest that not everyone should take it to the max. But some people don't even notice it, which surprises me.

Thats what I heard too, but the dietary resrictions start to become a factor at those doses. Didn't work at all for me but thats no reason that it won't work for somebody else.

Thanks Declan. Im pretty interested to see how it feels, its been on my To Do list for quite some time. Appreciate the input, it offers me some general guideline on beginning dosing.

Manerix looked decent in clinical trials around the world. But in the real world it just never seemed to amount to much. The one time I tried it I got much more depressed very fast.
