Buspar Augmenting SSRI; how about Hypericum ?

Posted by deepinit on November 2, 2006, at 19:31:59

What do you guys think about this logic:
If Buspar augments ssris, can it augment the ssri effect of Hypericum (st johns worth active ingred)
? I did not think this was appropriate for "Alternative" ....

Thoughts?

Yes, I would think that buspar would be ok to use with SJW. SJW by itself has some affinity for 5-ht1a like buspar, so it would complement/augment this.

The only place you may see some interaction, is between the norepinephrine reuptake of SJW, and the alpha-2 antagonism of buspar. It might result in some overstimulation. But you'd have to try. Going slow, I can't see a problem.
