Does anyone have experience taking both of these meds together? I am still on a slow titration of lamictal because my pdoc is trying to help me use it despite the dreaded rash. Since it's going to take a long time, he discussed adding lithium to the process for more immediate benefits. Does anyone have experience with low doses of both of these drugs?
(BTW, the working diagnosis is PTSD, but he believes I'm more on the bipolar spectrum with depression being the main symptom we're trying to treat.)

I was on this combo, but have recently come off of it. I really honestly don;t think I am bipolar , I have tried high doses of both alone and they did nothing either way , good or bad. And since I basically only deal with chronic depression I am really thinking it s more atypical depression.
But I know when I was looking into the combo, there were a lot of positive posts froma a few years ago from a lady named " BArbara Cat" who said she had a lot of success with the combo and that it was the only thing that had worked evr, etc. So you might want to search and find those threads. Good luck! by the way .. isn;t the extremely slow titration up on the Lamictal freaking frustrating ! : )

Thanks so much for your reply. I'm sorry it didn't work for you -- how are you handling your depression now? By atypical do you mean treatment-resistant or do you mean with features like lethargy and excessive sleep? So many of these things are not clear cut.
Yes, the titration is terrible. It's so easy to lose hope before you find whether or not something will work.

I started the EMSAM patch a week ago. I mainly deal with extreme fatigue, physically feeling weak and wanting to sleep all day.. I have had 1 major manic episode, but it was a long long time ago and accompanied by lots of drug use ( legal and illegal). Hope that the combo works for you! Good luck.
