Desipramine experiences

Posted by Jimmyboy on August 19, 2006, at 8:33:34

I azm taking 900 mg Lithium and weaning up slowly on LAmictal , and am trying to get out of a very dark hole of depression that has been the worst in a long time. My doctor prescribed a low dose of desipramine ( 25 mg) . Does anyone know if there will be a lot of side effects for this dose range? Could this be enough to kick me out of the depression so I can just stay in mood stablizers after I feel better? Thanks

JB

Desipramine is an activating AD so it may help get you out of there. I only got side effects at higher doses such as 150. Even then they werent too bad, just some dry mouth and jitters. I stopped because it didn't work for me, but I've heard it being great for some people.

25 mg of Desipramine is a very low dose. It's an activating med ... which I liked. The only downside I experienced was urinary retention. I went up to 75 mg.

Out of all the tricyclics, I think it has best side effect profile.
