...again that is 1-866-797-0000, the number, 24hrs a day, 7 days a week, for Ontario folks which will connect you live with an RN. *BUT*...either phoning or visiting the ER still may be your best options. My biggest fear would be the lithium, and it's interaction with kidneys and liver. I take 3mg a day of Risperdal at once...and I know people who take more, so I don't think that would be a problem. Same goes with the bromazepam and flurazepam.

Best,
Jay

Link I agree. I would think they would do a lithium level , probably stop it for a few days if necessary. Have no idea about two of them. The resperidol she will probably just sleep. Good luck Link. Post what happens. I hope she's well. Love Phillipa

Well, she refused to go to the hospital. She is ok, I guess.

Actually, she's terrable (long before the double dose). She cries all day, and complains about how she can't sleep. I should be more sympathetic, but I'm not. My brain is just tired of hearing it. I want to tell her to shut up, but obviosly I don't.

She just keeps taking pills. She'll down all of her psych meds, and then take a number of tylenol. What really gets me is that she started drinking beer a month ago. She has never drunk beer in some 55 years of her life, and all of a sudden now.."it calms me down". WTF.

She listens to none of my suggestions.

She complains that she feels unneeded, but then she won't even make the slightest atempt to help out around the house. She won't even cary her dinner plate from the table to the dishwasher.

Its funny, one day last month, she forgot all of her meds. She slept the entire night without waking once, and then some. She's past the point of no return, its not going to be pretty.

I know that all of the meds she is taking are simply messing up her sleeping patterns.

Sorry for the vent.

Hey, vent as much as you need to..this is the place to do it, and it's obvious you NEED to! I really feel for you Linkagde, sounds like your Mom is in very bad spot. I understand how you feel..my Mom did the very same thing (similar anyway) only this was way back in 1972- 1975. She also started to drink beer (self-medicating) she also smoked heavily. Anyway she died in 1975 from what they said was heart failure. Like you, i was very angry at my Mom,she had gone from a beautiful productive person and wonderful mother, to an alcoholic very depressed and helpless women in a matter of 4 yrs. The thing that hurt me the most was her drinking which changed her whole personality. My little brother (then only 10 yrs. old) found her on the couch dead on the morning of Sept. 4, 1975 :( Now i'm venting..sorry. Take care Linkadge, and i will remember you and your Mom in my prayers.

Vent away my friend. *hugs* I'm surprised your mom didn't violently throw up if she doubled her Lithium.

I understand why you can no longer be sympathetic. Have you sought help for dealing with your mother? You own mental state is in danger.

I'm really sorry.

Hi Donna,

Well it's been 31 yrs. ago almost to the day now. My brother is doing great (he is 41 now) he is very well adjusted..no mental problems at all. He is brilliant , has a wife and two young children, and a great job. He and i are very tight..i love him very much and am very proud of him. But he did go through some rough times. From age 17 to 22 he drank heavily and was experimenting with some drugs. But he is strong, he stopped "cold turkey" at age 22 and has never looked back. He got his college degree and has been productive and successful ever since. He is very supportive of my personal problems and is always there for me. HE'S THE BEST!

Actually, i think watching my Mother go through all that sh*t, had more of a long term negative effect on me ( maybe because i was older and remember it much more clearly than he does). Counseling (lots) has helped me a lot though. I am okay with it today. Well, you are sweet to inquire, thank you for caring! :)

Monte
