Hey all, I have just started taking Effexor today for the first time. One of my main concerns is ineractions with Ephedra, Gurana and other stimulants which I take ocassionaly when I'm training really hard, like on leg day or if I'm hitting the trails for a good long run. I don't take them everyday as most people do (as a fat burner) but only occasionally when I'm in for a good hard work out, just for energy. Alternatively, sometimes I'll have a sugar-free energy drink like Sobe or Rockstar. My traiing is vital to getting better, and of course total wellness as I believe in the old adage "healty body, healthy mind" and am aware of the mood boosting effects of a good workout. Has anyone experienced and negative side effects combining herbal stimulants with Effexor or any other anti-depressant, for that matter? Any feedback would be great.

Hi. When I took Effexor, it made me crave fattening foods and I started to put on weight. I tried taking prescription diet pills to help me kick the urge to eat so much and give me energy. I would feel ok for 3 days and then my depression would really hit me hard and I would feel awful. I tried the over the counter stuff too, like Stakers, ect and got the same effect. I asked my doctor that had prescribed me the Effexor about it and she told me not to take any of these, that they would counter effect the antidepressant. I also asked my pharmasist and he told me the same thing. He told me to stay away from these while on the AD. Good luck. Maybe someone else could explain on this or tell you something more than I have, but this is what I was told and what I have experienced.

You JUST started Effexor? I wish I had JUST started it...then I might be able to get off of it without being sick as a dog. Made me gain weight, too, and did NOTHING for depression. Worst drug I've ever taken...it make work for you but if I were in your shoes, I'd seriously consider asking the doc for an alternative.
