Cymbalta side effects

Posted by glittergirl on July 7, 2006, at 8:11:42

I am new at this but I was reading some that was said about Cymbalta and I have to ask. Has anyone had kidney pain, cold sweats, chills, and been told they have low potassium levels. I am really going through a lot of strange symptoms and have been on Cymbalta for 1 1/2 years now. I get extremely confused at times also. Please help.

I don't know what to tell you--I think the best thing to do would be to have a battery of blood tests done (things like liver enzymes, etc.) with your general practitioner. If you think the cymbalta is the cause of your problems, you might want to try a gradual taper and see if things improve. After that, you could go med-free or perhaps switch to a more tolerable medication.

He is doing that in about a week but I was just checking to see if anyone had a similar experience. But thanks for your concern.

Thanks for you concern Phillipa.
I just don't know where to turn. I just had gallbladder surgery that was postponed for hours while they tried to raise my potassium level and I am still struggling to try and keep it within normal range. I know that when I first started the Cymbalta it gave me the same pain that I think is kidney pain and some of the other symptoms but since they told me it would help my Fibromyalgia pain I stuck with it. But now with the doctor saying I must have a kidney that isn't holding potassium, of course I immediately thought of the pain in my left kidney.
When I was a teenager (which was many years ago) I was beat by my father very badly in my back, the bruises were there for months and one was right over the same area. Could damage to my kidney affect me so many years later?
Now I have a new symptom.
I have a very strange vibrating sensation in my left breast. This just started today and is very odd. Could this be from the surgery? Has anyone else had anything so strange happen to them?

Boy you are having some wierd symtoms. And damage to the kidney could appear years later I think as one ages. Do you have any hear problems? Potassium plays a big part in the cardiac system and it is tied into the kidneys. And a vibrating breast never heard of that. Could it be you are very frightened of what's happening to your body? What does your doc say? Love Phillipa

I called and my doc is out of town. The on-call told me to go to the emergency room because it was hard to tell if it was heart related over the phone. I decided to wait and see if it got worse and it went away. Possibly it was a very strange nerve or muscle reaction because of the incision that was near there??????????? I will see when I go for the biosy of my nodule in my goiter on Tuesday. Wow, I am just falling apart.
But really I am not so upset, this is an ongoing thing with me lately and since I did have a ANA test come back positive I might as well get used to it. What do you think?

I have also had terrible side effects from cymbalta. I found this great website forum where people have listed LOTS of similar effects...it has to be the medicine! Good luck.
