Food makes me feel manic now (stupid Prozac!)

Posted by bonnie_CA on June 8, 2006, at 6:59:19

I've noticed it for awhile, but I'm bored now and feel like posting it. Prozac makes me feel manic, and I've noticed that eating actually makes me feel worse, at least at first. I think it's messing with my blood sugar in a bad way, because if I don't eat, I feel nervous (but not manic). I'm going to change meds when I get back home. I'm visiting my family in Florida this week. Good thing I have plenty of xanax, or it would be an extremely BAD trip.

I'm sorry, I know I've been posting a lot of negative stuff about prozac, but I've been having a really hard time with it. I really hope I get on something that works again.

Thanks for reading my complaints! lol

i can relate. i actually really do not like prozac. it steeped my depression 10fold and i had my first true manic reaction on it, luckily i was already in the hospital when it happened. i've never had that severe of a 'manic' reaction since.
best wishes for finding something that works for you.

Oh yes, prozac sent me into some very weird places. Couldn't sleep, couldn't eat, really bad anxiety, suicial urges (which weren't there before I might add) In short, i went totally mad for a while.

Kind regards

Meri

I had something similar on Celexa+Wellbutrin (before I knew I was BPII). I got hypomanic, but this was only sustained with high-carb foods and sweets. When I'd cut back on that stuff, I'd just start to feel edgy.

Anyway, if you're not on a mood-stabilizer, your pdoc want to consider adding one. Even if you're not BP, this might take the manic edge off.

Best,
