Sunday depression BIG TIME argh.

Posted by h on June 4, 2006, at 10:28:58

Hi guys. Day six of Zoloft. Titrating up slowly because I've gotten nauseous on it before.

Don't seem to be this time but it's Sunday and as usual I'm depressed as all get out on Sunday. Anybody else on like this?

When I get weekend depression it to is always worse on Sunday. Lack of meaningful things to do is the biggest cause for me; if I interact with people that will lift my spirts the most.
I do feel bad for you because depression is just aweful!

Yes Weekend Blues has hit me big time!

Its "lovely" wheather here in Cambridge UK

Somehow the Sunshine makes it all worse

I completely agree that social isolation is bad for depression, unfortunatly I suffer from social anxiety as well!

What sucks is that when you're that depressed, you don't even feel like cleaning the house or something. You could possibly find something useful to do, but you just can't, right? Depression sucks. Hang in there. We all care!

I often feel bad on Sundays. I'm usually alone most of the day and I sleep too much.

I concur -- Sunday depression builds upon itself, its hard to just get out of bed and go take a walk or something instead of "contemplating your navel" as the old saying goes. And then one thing builds on another.

I hate Sundays
I've isolated myself all day long, and I feel lonely, and depressed.

And I feel anxiety because Monday morning marches closer and closer, like an invading army of unpleasant tasks and chores.

And my favorite TV shows used to be on (desparate housewives, and grey's anatomy) but now the season is over. (sigh) nothing to look forward to.

funny, EVERY Sunday for years I used to get an awful headache. We called it the "Sunday Headache" It was like clockwork. I figured it had something to do with the fact that all week long I was running on adrenaline (5 little ones at home all day, house, etc...) and then Sat would come and my husband would be home and I felt I could "let down" a little, but by Sunday, the chemical change of adrenaline in relationship to (what? I don't know), got me depressed and full of a headache. It was years. Gone now....not sure why except in the last few years I have been on meds. hmmmmm

I feel the same about Sundays. Saturdays are good, but Sundays can be awful...

Everything is closed, streets empty, nothing but movies I've seen and fishing on TV. And the anticipation of Moncay. It can be very depressing.

for years, until recently, like clock-work, i'd start into my 'i hate the weekend' by thursday night.

nowadays, it's 'just' saturday and sunday, sunday being far & away the worst.

this thread is refreshing for me, though, as i had no idea so many got this. thanx all.

Yes, same for me. I thought I was the only one that felt this way. I feel so bad and just don't know what to do with myself. It's like this everyday, but Sunday is the worse. I feel like my whole family is here at home and there should be tons of things to do, but just can't bring myself to do them.

i've lived alone for all but 2 months of the last going on 9 years now.

because i'm an only child, thankfully, i've always been able to entertain myself very easily; have very rarely experienced any loneliness.

honestly, but perhaps not pc, although i can get along with anyone, i'm certainly about as far away from a 'people person' as anyone could be. another truth: i don't particularly like most people, but that probably comes, mostly, from the types of people i've been exposed to far too often, and for far too long - and through no fault of my own. they seem to be drawn to me, as if by magnets. (i find them so very draining/ depleting, while they walk away buoyed by our 'interactions'). i now know why they're drawn to me, and have had to 'terminate' two recently. HA! i'm digressing, i suppose...

yet, i've also always had enough (for me) stable, long-unduring friendships, marked by trust, mutual respect, and much loyalty.

but these bloody sundays do get to me; i've just confirmed that a pattern is clearly evident: sunday is the day of the week i'm most prone to regress re: the above types, and i really have to watch myself.

h,

How much do you typically sleep on Saturday nights, versus other nights of the week? For some depressives, oversleeping tends to lead to depression, and partial sleep depivation tends to have an antidepressant effect.

I've noticed this trend in myself for some time now. I don't tend to oversleep as often now as I did before I was on a moderately effective medication regimen, but even now, if I do happen to sleep too much, I do feel at least somewhat more depressed than I would otherwise.

Hope this helps.
