My sleep doctor told me that neurtontin would not make me "feel" anything, but it would help with deep sleep. They are studies out there that back it up. I found neurtontin to dumb me down a bit in day-time. I've since switched to Lyrica which I like better. I take it in the afternoon and have found it works well with emsam, giving an anti-anxiety effect.

warm regards, Jake.

So far I'm obviously not having luck sleeping through the night with this med. I feel like I am breathing real shallow and can't take a deep breath which I don't like and I feel like I'm having hot flashes which isn't going to work either. Don't know if I'll take it again tomorrow night or not....

The hot flashes and not being able to take a deep breath sounds like what I experience when I am have panic attacks. They're not full blown, but Klonopin helped. Adding some propranolol to the Klonopin helped mellow things out a bit more. Unfortunately, Klonopin over 0.25mg had a depressive effect.

I'm now on Lyrica at bedtime only (too much grogginess and weight gain if I take during the day). But I still occasionally get those hot flashes (sometimes for 2-3 hours straight) and the shallow breathing.

I have an appt. with a sleep specialist tomorrow to discuss my sleep study and see what he can suggest.

Good luck.

Cairo,

Did your study show you had sleep apnea? I have shallow breathing too. I tried APAP therapy but could not tolerate the machine. I find sleeping on my side helps.

That's a good point that panic and/or anxiety attacks can occur while asleep.

warm regards, Jake

I have had anxiety problems in the past and know what a panic attack is for sure. It wasn't like that. It was just like my breathing was so depressed that I couldn't draw a deep breath or something. That plus the pounding headache that didn't go away til mid day...for sure not the med for me.

The patch is gone...I'm done with it. So I can start 2 weeks of h**l and then try to figure out if there is actually something else that I can try. That was my 14th medication...sigh....
