I prefered it when it was just called ADD--vent

It just rolls of the tongue so much easier than "ADHD". ADD is even easier to type.

I mean, does the H really contribute much? Won't those who are hyperactive consequently be inattentive?

I do understand the different subtypes, but the whole point of an acronym is simplification!

I think "ADD" adequatley gets the point across.

I call for a revision in DSM-V! Who's with me? Anyone here have some clout with the APA?

I'm only half joking ;

I agree about the acronym, but frankly -- I've got a lot of cognitive hyperactivity, which leads to inattentiveness, so I tend to think of myself as the "H" in ADHD, without necessarily having a lot of the AD...

Eh. Machts nichts.

But I agree -- ADD is much better as an acronym.

Yes I do agree. I think it makes more sense to just say ADD and then the subtype (inattentive, hyperactive) along with it when necessary.
