A little while back the cuttoff was 18, that magical cutoff point where paxil decided to not give the users an increased rate of suicidal tendancies. Now its 30 ?

It will probably take a few more years, but sooner or later the authorities will catch on to the fact that a lot of people feel immediately worse on a medication. If they are already in bad shape to begin with, yeah suicide is of course a risk when the med makes them feel even worse. I'm not sure why they started with teens. As is evidenced on this board, it happens to all age groups. Pbabble is way ahead of the curve.

Hi Link

I wonder how long it will take the authorities to recognise that most ADs are associated with suicidality in certain people? Paxil is not unique.

Makes sense. Temporary increased neural activity due to the extra neurotransmitter would make you feel worse until the receptors are downregulated.

I think this is a characteristic of most (if not all) SSRIs--not just Paxil.

When I was on Prozac, it numbed my emotions, plus I constantly craved alcohol. Even worse, it reduced my tolerance by about two thirds. Fortunately I wasn't suicidal, because the lack of emotion combined with the ability to get completely hammered on 6 beers would be incredibly dangerous for anyone who is.

I think anyone starting on an SSRI should be monitored very carefully, especially if they are younger and/or suicidal.
