Ativan problem

Ativan post

I was given an RX for Ativan 2mg a day. I took it for about five days and stopped last night. Seem to be having some problems like tingling in the extremeties, titinnitus, feel sick, and anxiety, etc... I think it is because of the Ativan. What do you think?

Most definately. Even though you were on it a relatively short time you should have tapered it rather than a cold turkey.

I always wondered though if the discontinuation problems were worse and more importantly longer lasting if you quit cold turkey vs. a taper

Something to think about if you ever have to do it again. A little compare and contrast.

Thank you for the reply. I wasn't doing well this morning so I called the doctor and had him paged at about 7:30am and he saw me at 9:00am. Basically I told him I didn't want to be on it and would rather try SAM-E for the depression and excedrin PM for the occasional insomnia. He agreed and had me take .5mg and that got rid of the symptoms within 40 minutes. He told me to cut the pills in half and and only to take 2 or 3 of those 1/2 of a .5mg each day for the next two or three days. Then he said to just take 1 of 1/2 of a .5 mg for the next two days and I should be off it at that point. He said there might be some discomfort for a day or two following the last 1/2 of a .5mg. What a trip. I don't smoke, drink, or take drugs and to feel withdrawals for the first time in my life was no fun.

Anyone have luck with Sam-e for minor depression?

Go to Alternative Board and post about ST John's wort. Or I bet if you look at the posts you'll find one on it. Love Phillipa
