Schizophrenia - chat

Posted by pretty_paints on March 14, 2006, at 11:05:00

Hi

Is anyone here suffering with schizophrenia? I remember there used to be posts from a guy called R Lockhart (or something like that?). Did he have schizophrenia?

I would love to chat to anyone with a similar diagnosis. i have been on Rispiridone (bad shakes, tiredness and constipation, but quite good), Zyprexa, Seroquel, Abilify and now Clozapine. How about you?

Thanks a lot

Kate

I have schizophrenia but I am no longer really suffering from it as it is well managed.

I have taken thioridazine, risperidone, amisulpride, sulpride, zyprexa, stelazine, chlorpromazine. I currently take flupenthixol and pericyazine.

I was (briefly) mis-diagnosed w/ schizophrenia for what is apparently some odd mood-disorder, possibly of the bipolar sort, with occasional psychotic elements.

Have you checked out schizophrenia.com ? They have interesting information. Other than that...maybe there are support groups around you?

Good luck!

If you want to talk about any problems, symptoms, effects of medications, long term thoughts or projections I would be glad to hear from you and exchange info. We have known about my son's schizophrenia since July 2003. I also assume that he had symptoms going back at least 2 years before that. He refused to see anyone up until the time he had his first major episode. For some time after that he was still off and on as far as cooperation. He has only monthly Pdoc visits now to renew medications and briefly discuss his problems and situation. What about you?
