Tolerence build up on Adderall

Posted by kotsunega on February 19, 2006, at 11:08:50

Hello,

I take Adderall on an ongoing basis, and find that if I skip a couple of days, it helps with tolerence build up. I currently take 90 mg/day of Adderall divided into 3 doses.

Does anyone know if this is a standard dose, or one that I should increase since I so easily build up a tolerance.

Also, I have read that taking L-Tyrosine can help with tolerance problems. Anyone have experience with this? Does it help, or not?

Thanks!

I think the way tyrosine helps to prevent tolerance, or improves the way the stimulant works by actually taking a lower dose, is by supplying the precursors to dopamine and norepinephrine that are quickly depleted by the stimulant. It can restore reserves that have been used up.

I read somewhere that one of the ginsengs, can't remember if it was red or panax or siberian, helps prevent tolerance and dependence to morphine and stimulants by somehow preventing the dopamine receptor from changing sensitivity.

I've heard memantine may help.
