Curious can I follow as I know this new pdoc may introduce a mood stabalizer. Thanks Phillipa

Yeah, all I've heard about mood stabalizers is all the weight they put on .. Now I've always been a person that is very resistant to drugs, usually going up to maximum dosages (or higher), and able to cut off cold turkey many different drugs with minimal sfx.
Anyway, I'm on 1250mg daily of depakote, may go higher. Been on it for a couple months now. Definitly not noticing weight increase. Maybe decrease if anything? Makes no sense.

I've only heard about weight gain, and depakote messing with your blood sugar. I usually gain on the meds you're supposed to lose on, and gain with the ones that tend to cause weight gain - so I'm scr*wed either way.

I've only been on it about a week and only at 500mg but I've experienced no increase or decrease in weight or appetite.

I've never gained weight from SSRIs either, though. In fact, Paxil, Prozac, Celexa and Effexor all lowered my urge to eat.

Remeron and Zyprexa both made me uncontrollably hungry so I'm a litle worried about the Depakote.

Do you mind my asking what you take the Depakote for? And your dosage? and for how long? And most of all - is it helping?
