Web site rates doctors - you can rate yours

Posted by xterra on December 23, 2005, at 20:23:01

Here's a link to a web site that rates doctors in the U.S. (and Canada, also, I think). It's fairly new so there's not a whole lot of docs listed yet but you can go on, fill out a short anonymous questionaire and rate your doc or pdoc. It's pretty cool.

We had a thread here earlier about wanting to do this with psychobabble.

The above post was by me not by Xterra. That's my husband and he'd been here and it just assumed it was still him.

Anyway - you can find docs by speciality and read what other patients have to say about them. They're rated on all sorts of things.

Hi Phillipa,

I looked at the site and looked at NC pdocs and I only saw two who had bad ratings of 1. I guess the new rating from today was yours. But the other one with a bad rating was a female. That can't be your new pdoc can it? Did you see the "1" at the next to the last column and think it was the rating, instead of the number of people who had rated him by any chance?

Sorry for any inconvenience, but could you ask him not to post from your computer?

Marsha I did! And the old bad pdoc was there. So I rated him as low as I could! A sad face for him! Just one of thousands I hope! But sadly my new pdoc was already there and he had a sad face. Now what but only one person had rated him. Fondly, Phillipa

I hate to lean on free speech, but unscientific poll sites tend to get the most responses from the crankiest people. Its how the questions are phrased that get even different responses. I can think of many political questions but I don't want to offend anyone on here so I won't press buttons, but if you look on places like CNN they tend to be heavily skewed one way or the other because the question asked by the pollster was phrased in a particular fashion.

This isn't to say that a fledgling site such as the one mentioned, given numerous more traffic, will be of possible value. Epinions, provided there are enough respondents -- thats another factor, can be of quite good value when steering clear of a shoddy online retailer.

One doesn't get a good picture with one or two responses -- its like pollnight with 0.001% of the polls responding, Jane Doe is the next district supervisor for Podunk, IA.

Just a thought

Tidings and cheers.

Just because no one said anything doesn't mean no one did anything. [I'm joking, by the way -- not annoyed]

I, personally, was too busy adding doctors and comments on my doctors to the site to respond to you. In fact, I was up WAAAAYYYY past my bedtime searching for ALL the doctors I've seen in the past few years...

Thanks for posting that site. It's cool -- there were very nice things written about my gynecologist, for example, whom I really like. Nice to see others also like him. My wonderful opthalmologist, though, got a sad face. So I rated her, too. Highly, except for punctuality...

It this is a new site how come two of my pdocs were there? The old one hadn't been rated til I rated him. Where are the other names of doctors. And a very important question is when I go to the forum. I can't find the comments I posted on the bad pdoc. Anyone know how to get them what am I doing wrong.I clicked on forum but neither shows up. So I must be doing something wrong please help me. I especially want to see the one on Scott Wallace. Pdoc in Charlotte NC. If you know how and get it please post the comments here for me. I'm an idiot I guess. Help I start the meds in another day. Fondly, Phillipa

Phillipa,

I couldn't find a Scott Wallace listed in NOrth Carolina. Is it possible you were looking at another state when you rated him. If so, he gets stuck on the wrong page. I did that with my pdoc, Generoso Masangkay and he ended up listed in North Carolina instead of in Florida. I'm strill trying to correct that. Which pdoc was your bad old one and which is your new one?

Thanks, Racer. I got so excited when I found that site. It is fairly new but pretty soon maybe we'll all be able to vet our doctors a little better. I loved rating the good ones almost as much as dissing the bad ones.

Marsha the bad pdoc's rating by me is posted but I can't find my comments on him. And that's the one I really want to see. His name is Nunn in NC under psychiatrist. I used my Phillipa screen name but I'm not in the forum why?

State medical boards...

Posted by yxibow on December 25, 2005, at 23:37:43

In reply to Re: Just because... » Racer, posted by 4WD on December 25, 2005, at 22:16:12

I think another more accurate way to look up doctors is if your state medical board has a database and a doctor has had an action against them, e.g. the listings in DocFinder. Now of course just because an action against a doctor is listed does not make them a bad doctor necessarily. Some doctors could have bad luck and have cranks trying to make frivolous cases against their malpractice insurance.
