Klonopin Remeron for Anxiety/Mild Depression

Posted by RobertDavid on December 9, 2005, at 20:46:37

Klonopin is really helping my anxiety, but I have a mild depression. Tonight I'm adding Remeron. I'll get up to 45mgs in 2 weeks at which point my doc says we should have a pretty good feel if it's working.

I understand at first at low doeses I'll be drowsy, but that's supposed to go away at the higher dose. I also understand you can gain weight because of increased appetite, I'll watch that.

I've been through so many other meds for the depression side, but no luck so far. I'm told Remeron is unrelated to the other's I've tried. Doc says it could also help with anxiety.

I hope it works, if not, Nardil will be next (if EMSAM isn't out yet. At least I have the Klonopin, thank God for that.

I'll post my results with Remeron.....

Good luck with the Remeron, I hope it works for you.

I agree about the Klonopin, I have been on it only a few weeks and it has made my life much much better.

Just be patient and stay optimistic about it working!

Okay, I really feel like a wimp. I've done so many drug trials to treat my mild depression, lack of energy, anxiety and am used to really hanging in there through the initial side effects to see if a med will work or not.

Last night I took 7.5mgs of Remeron (first night). I have been in bed all day, can't think straight, just waiting for this to wear off. I drank a tall coffee to try to get me out of bed (and I usually can't handle coffee) but just fell back asleep. I have a headache as well.

I was warned I would be tired until I got up to higher doses, but wow, I'm just not willing to put myself through who knows how long this sedation will last.

So I'm bailing and am going to re-think my plan. About all that's left is a MAOI trial, but I think I'll try to just get through the holidays with klonopin alone (which Isn't so bad) before I do this again.

About the only other drug I can recall trying where I had to bail so fast was serzone. Everyone's chemistry is different.......

Same thing happened to me. I was told sleepiness would lesson as titration got be 30-45mgs. After taking 15 mgs, I couldn't move for two days. Couldn't imagine going any further. So yes I wimped out too. That was it for me....

I started Remeron about 10 years ago. I had tried just about everything else and nothing helped. The sleepiness did eventually wear off and the lower doses does cause much more sleepiness than the higher doses. I now take it only as needed for sleep! It worked great for me.
