Dr Leo Sternbach established in the late 1950s that Chlordiopoxide (Librium) sedated animals. he then went onto seperate a different molecule which he named DIAZEPAM and was in 1963, tradenamed VALIUM(r)and released onto the market-perhaps you have heard of it?-hehe
Apparently Dr Sternbach is still alive aged 96, or something?-remarkable
Dr Leo Sternbach (Roche, Pharm) the instigator of benzodiazepines!!!

Lived to 96 wow. Probably cause he was living a low stress life.
Although, I heard this guy once said that he didn't like to take valium cause it depressed him.

Dr Leo Sternbach-Inventor of the benzodiazepines (Libriun, Valium) I have read also he doesn't like to take his creations, due to the depresive feelings they cause.
Obviously the USA didn't agree with him, where Diazepam (Valium) held a hammerlock on the No 1 of scripted drugs during that decade.
And until Upjohns, Xanax-Halcion,-frenzied promotion (1982), was the nations tried and trusted friend!
NEVER, EVER, FORGET, THE LEGAL DOPE COMPANIES RULE OK?Cheers

He absorbed some LSD-25 thru his fingers in 1938. He Decideded to take (What he thought was a small dose! of 250mcgs! in the early 1940s and entered heaven, n hell,.
From what i have scantilly gathered he is still alive.
Or took LSD-25, (His creation) on his deathbed)

I don't think xanax is stronger than valium. Just shorter acting. Fondly, Phillipa

Thanks Phillipa!!
I disagree, having taken both-Xanax, is a laser beam-for intensive? psychic anquish interventivation. valium is a shotgun, and i have take thousands!!! (BELIEVE ME) of the 2. 5 mgs pills)-Valium =a shot gun. Xanax=a laser beam toward intense psychic pain!!-no doubt!!!
Cheers

Paulwell, you only took 2.5mg of valium? I take l5mg and it doesn't touch me. When I was taking xanax at first it relieved panic attacks and just started to make me sleepy. At the same time I was taking xanax approximately 2-3mg a day I was also taking klonopin, and chloral hydrate. I am very pleased if valium is weaker than xanax. As I no longer take klonopin and chloral hydrate . That would mean I have cut down on meds dramatically. And before I took the chloral hydrate I drank 6beers with the xanax. What I truly don't understand is why the beer made me feel fine. Best sleeping aid with .5xanax at night I've ever had. Fondly, Phillipa

For me, Valium is the easiest of the benzodiazepines to taper off of. It is a lot more "gentle" than Xanax... very benign compared to the high-potency BZDs on the market these days. :-)
