How about Adderall + Neurontin??

Posted by jparsell82 on October 12, 2005, at 17:44:13

Anyone tried Adderall w/ Neurontin?? Think it would work? I've been on Adderall + Klonopin before for my SAD/ADD but the Klonopin tended to make me depressed. Any thoughts?

I take Adderall XR and Xanax, no depression, and I tend to get depression from meds.

due to its effects on calcium chanels, neurontin becomes PRO-seizure when combined with major stimulants.

That's interesting. I didn't know that. What action does Neurontin have on calcium channels? I thought it inhibited them.

Do you know a good webpage that lists all of the properties of the anticonvulsants?

Thanks.

neurontin has MANY properties for its action. it blocks spinal level glutamate release, raises gaba, lowers substance P, and its thought mode of action if binding to the alpha2delta subunit of the high voltaged gated auxillary calcium channels.

nimodipine, i believe binds to the alpha1 subunit. So yeah its a very specific calcium channel blocker with other properties (it effects dopamine as well)

Yup if you take high dose neurontin split between doses cause remember its absorption sucks, you will get myclonic jerks and zaps. If you combine it with a strong stimulant like adderal, or ritalin you could have a seizure. Im talking from experience ( i had one when combined with ritalin) and also from my physciatrist who is an expert especially he knows his stuff on neurontin he says it is one dangerous drug and should be controlled. the maker if currently in a class action law suit over it.

also it lowers white blood cells, some people have died from massive infections.

Hmmmm... I read a couple articles earlier today describing the success of Ritalin + Neurontin for a couple people. The one's symptoms were said to be remarkably improved.
