WELLBUTRIN AND ITCHING- ANYBODY???

Posted by mellymel_d on September 23, 2005, at 1:01:45

I've been on the wellbutrin about 3 weeks now (still no success with it) however, I'm trying to be patient and wait it out. BUT the last couple of nights I've had BAD itching all over, no rash, a couple of bumps that kinda look like pimples but nothing major except the itching...Has anybody experienced this? Is it an allergic reaction so late? Will it go away?

Man, I really didn't need another thing to fixate over. It's bad enough I'm not feeling any relief yet. Now I'm anxious over this and even more depressed that all of these things keep happening. It's like one thing after another and another... :-(

Call your dr. as soon as possible. I experienced the same thing while on a generic wellbutrin. I started taking 100mg a day for two weeks with no problem. Then the pdoc upped the dose to two 150mg pills a day (300 mg total). I began noticing itching between my toes and finger. Then it developed into full blown hives all over my body. I stopped immeadiately (on dr. orders) and began taking benadryl and clariton for the hives. They lasted for two weeks even after I discontinued. By the way...When my dose was upped to the 150mg pills the generic pill was called Budeprion made by TEV labs. This was a different brand than the 100 mg buproprion pills. My doc thinks I\'m allergic to buproprion. My pharmacist thinks I\'m allergic to a filler in the gereric budeprion. Either way, I can\'t risk taking it anymore. You should stop until you speak with your doc.

I had itching on wellbutrin and I recently stopped it and now that I think back I didnt have itching while off it. But I started the other day again and I am really itchy now, its mostly my legs but I notice it on my arms too. It is not something to me that I would stop the drug for, but I didnt get red bumps. To me it doesnt sound like an allergic reaction, it could be two things happening at once. But you should check with your pdoc or pharmacist. I live with scratch marks :-)

MY DOC SAYS ITS POSSIBLE I'M ALLERGIC TO THE GENERIC FORM SINCE WHEN I WAS ON WB ITSELF I DIDN'T HAVE THE ITCHING. THEY ARE GOING TO SWITCH ME TODAY AND HOPE THIS WORKS...

HAS ANYBODY HEARD OF THAT?

take a couple of Benadryl and see if that helps.. (nm)

All fillers are different and that's why the effects of generic vs namebrand vary so. Maybe you should get namebrand? Fondly, Phillipa
