I will start taking this med tonight. Has anyone gained weight on this. I was on Zoloft and gained 15 lbs. What side effects has anyone experienced good or bad?

For me, it is actually an appetite suppressant - I have lost 20 lbs. The side effects I had were dry mouth, constipation and inability to reach orgasm. I still have the dry mouth at times but the constipation is much better and I can achieve orgasm now. Carole

I took cymbalta for the first time & was awake most of the night. Woke up with an upset stomach. Does this happen to anyone else?
Do you take the cymbalta at night or day?

Cymbalta is generally anorexic. A common side effect is nausea. I tried it only for a few days and did not get nausea, but I definitely had zero appetite. And it kept me up all night with insomnia, despite taking zyprexa and xanax to try to sleep. Clinical studies generally show weight loss with it, and I'm not sure but I think there is even a warning about that. I'm already way too skinny to begin with, so I don't think it was a good choice for me. If you want to lose weight, and if you can somehow get through the first few days or weeks of insomnia, it may be a good choice.

I had nausea, anorgasmia, constipation at first but these side effects have subsided over time. I've been on Cymbalta 2-1/2 months. I also take an anti-anxiety medicine and a medicine to sleep so I don't notice any anxiety with the Cymbalta. Carole

No nausea but it does upset my stomach a little. I take mine in the morning since it will keep me up at night. Paradoxically though I can't make it through the day without a long nap.

I'm just now getting back to a regular dose of 60mgs per day. I had been as low as 1 or 2mgs per day to avoid the sexual side effects and constipation.

Anyway, at the higher doses I noticed significant weight loss. I simply didn't have the usual hunger pains and consequently ate less. I also noticed that my body seemed warmer, as those my metabolism was higher and burning more calories at rest.
