I was fianlly able to buy my Provigil and I will be trying it tomorrow. I hope my dose is high enough. It's only 100 mg. I think it's usually taken twice a day but I guess I will only be able to take it once.
Sigh.I hope it helps.

I was on 100mg of Provigil for a long time, and it was enough for me. Provigil strikes me as a medication that proves the rule about more not necessarily being better, since taking more of it was Not A Good Thing For Me.
I do hope it helps you as much as it helped me. You deserve some relief, and I hope this brings it to you.

Aw thanks Racer. I think since I am on a high dosage of Parnate, keeping the dose low is probably a good idea. I think I will try it in the afternoon as that is when the fatigue is the worse. Is there a certain time I shouldn't take it after (what's the latest time I can take it?)

I've been wondering about you and the Provigil, Maxime. I hope it works great for you. You are so strong and courageous. To be doing this move and new job in the midst of your depression - I'm in awe!Marsha

I think 100mg is a sensible starting dose. I'd probably take it at noon :-)

>Hm... I always took it with breakfast, and it seemed to keep me going most of the day -- at least up until about 5PM or so. For a while, I took a front loaded split dose: 100mg AM and 50mg noonish. That kept the late afternoon fade at bay, which worked out nicely for me. And, on either of those schedules, it didn't create any problems sleeping for me.
From what I've read, it takes two to four hours to reach maximum blood levels, and takes something like three to seven days to reach steady state. I can't tell you if that's accurate, but I can tell you that the lunch doses I took started to kick in between about 2 and 3 in the afternoon, and I was aware of the positive effects of the drug pretty much on the first day I took it.
OH! That's another thing to warn you about! Right at first, you might get headaches. They're not horrible, at least they weren't for me -- I get migraines, so these were more like pressure than pain to me. They do seem to go away, and they really weren't all that bad for me. Except the first one. The first one I got was so bad I ws afraid I'd end up in the ER for it. And I never go to the ER if I can avoid it. The headaches didn't last long, and the subsequent headaches were never bad -- really, just like wearing a slightly tight swimming cap.
Oh, Maxi -- I'm pulling for you, out here on the Left Coast. If there's any help in that, you've got it. May this work well for you!

Thanks everyone. I am not going to take it today. I have a headache that is from the Parnate (base of neck) so the last thing I need is a full blown hypertensive episode. I think it's the stress of moving etc. But I will let you know once I try it.
Back to packing ..... ACK!

You are not a wimp. There is a point where I can't function properly. I was like that for several months from January until I found out that my asthma med was making things worse. I would not gotten the job then. I couldn't form proper sentences when I was talking.
I am still in a depressed state now though. When I am alone I allow myself to cry and feel bad. I still get very suicidal. But around others I wear my mask. Maybe faking it until you make it is true. I don't know. I also try to practice what I learned in therapy. That's why I think therapy is so important. You should try it. It will help.

Hi. Today is my last day with computer access. WAH! I took the the Provigil two hours ago and I feel nothing. I still feel the fatigue. Poop. Well it's too late to do anything about it now. It wasn't covered by my Provicial insurance so I had to pay out of pocket. If I call my pdoc, I don't think he will raise it and if he did, I wouldn't be able to afford it. I guess I will use caffeine. I have no choice. Damn!
Ugh. I feel like crap. Not from the Provigil just the fatigue.

Most people need more than 100mg Pro, will you try 200mg after a few days on 100mg?

Anything less than 300mg was like a sugar pill for me and like you say a very expensive sugar pill if your insurance won't pay. I know you had bad results with dexedrine, I saw on another forum people complaining about a certain manufacturer's generic dex and adderall. Kind of sounds like Babar but with less B's. The same kind of thing, bad crashes at night etc.
Good Luck,
Rick

I'm sorry it wasn't helpful. I don't know which is worse -- that you had high hopes for it and it didn't work or that you had to spend so much money for something that didn't help.
Perhaps you could increase the dose with what pills you have until after the move. So you'd maybe have energy enough to get that done at least? Will you go back to the Dexedrine?

I´m taking low-dose modafinil (50-100 mg/day) along with ritalin (60 mg/day) and I think modafinil is helpful for me, and it boosts ritalin effects for ADHD. I was wondering why don´t you consider importing modafinil from my country (Argentina)... It´s affordable here. In fact, that is what I´m spending:
Modafinil 200 mg, 20 pills ("Vigicer", Beta Labs): 25 US$ (american dollars, which are equal to 73,51 "argentinian pesos")

Alejandro,
Where do you purchase the Modanfil? I think it would also be helpful for me. Is it sold over the counter in Buenos Aires?

Johny,
The cost I mentioned is the one you may be charged in any pharmacy, here. It is not an over-the-counter med, though regulations on modafinil (unlike ritalin) are quite soft. Perhaps, you should look for further info on how to import meds, etc, on the web. BTW, if you want to check prices of meds in argentinian market, you can visit:
www.alfabeta.net
That site does NOT sell any med. It´s a data base of drugs available here; it is supposed to be directed to local pharmaceuticals, but I think it may be also useful for you. (It is only in spanish language.) Greetings,
Alejandro

Alejandro, thanks for the response. I have a friend in BA, who visits regularly. Can you tell me the correct name under which to purchase and the location/name of a pharmacy that I can send him to downtown or in the Palermo/Belgrano area. I have visited BA, so I am familiar with that wonderful city.
Thanx
